ThinkPad X200 | Macbook Air Rival

Sunday, October 12th, 2008

The Lenovo ThinkPad X300 took on Apple’s Macbook Air when it first came out. Though the X300 came close in the size of it’s form factor, the ThinkPad blew the Macbook Air away in terms of options and functionalities.

Now there’s a new Lenovo ThinkPad which is bidding to close the gap even more, at least in terms of size. The Lenovo ThinkPad X200 notebooks are out and boy are they ever small and thin. These 12.1″ notebooks are light weight notebooks have lost their optical drive like the Macbook Air to achieve a much more trim profile. the ThinkPad X200 continues the X300′s focus on mobility and extended battery life.

Much like the X300, there is an option to swap in a solid state drive in replacement of the standard 250 gb hard disk drive. With the release of Intel’s new Centrino 2 platform, the X200 will incorporate these new innovations into their notebooks. One will also find that the ThinkPad X200 has moved to the new and much smaller 45nm Penryn architecture.

Like most Lenovo ThinkPads, the chassis is made up of a magnesium alloy frame and reinforced by a carbon fibre roll cage to protect all your components inside. You can also choose from a tablet pc version of the X200.
