ThinkPads with Solid Disk Drives
Solid Disk Drives (SSD) are innovative storage solutions that are slowly beginning to find their way into notebook computing. While still relatively pricey, SSDs do truly offer an enhanced mobile experience. SSDs have a faster seek time, consume less power, and are more reliable. Because there’s no moving parts, there’s less likelihood that something will break and fail like in your traditional hard disk drive. And because of this, the disk doesn’t need additional power to be spinning, thus less noise and more battery life.
Lenovo has been a pioneer and has incorporated a handful of Samsung solid disk drives into its ThinkPad line of notebooks. The X300, X301, X200, T400 notebooks all offer system configurations with SSDs. For Mobile workstations, the Lenovo ThinkPad W500 and W700 have SSD options as well.
